Background
Technological progress is something that we cannot avoid in this life, because technological progress will run in line with scientific progress. Every innovation is created to provide positive benefits for human life. Provides many conveniences, as well as a new way of carrying out human activities. Especially in the field of technology, society has enjoyed the many benefits brought by the innovations that have been produced in the last decade. However, even though it was originally created to produce positive benefits, on the other hand it is also possible to use it for negative things. Anglin defines technology as the systematic application of behavioral and natural sciences and other knowledge to solve problems. Human life cannot be separated from technology.
This means that technology is a whole method that rationally leads to the characteristics of efficiency in every human activity. Technological development occurs when someone uses tools and reason to solve every problem they face. According to B.J. Habiebie (1983: 14) there are eight transformation vehicles that are priorities for technological development, especially industrial technology, namely: aircraft, maritime and shipping, transportation equipment, electronics and communications, energy, engineering, agricultural tools and machines, and defense and security.

1. Definition and origins of technology.
Nana Syaodih S. (1997: 67) states that in fact technology has existed for a long time or humans have used technology. In ancient times, humans broke candlenuts with stones or picked fruit with poles, in fact they used technology, namely simple technology.
Technology comes from the words “techne” which means “way” and “logos” which means “knowledge”. So literally, technology can be interpreted as “knowledge of how”. What is meant here is a way of doing something to fulfill human needs with the help of the mind and tools, so as to extend, strengthen and make human life easier to live.
According to Jaques Ellul (1967: 1967 xxv) the meaning of technology is all methods that rationally lead and have the characteristics of efficiency in every field of human activity. In general, he defines technology as follows:
- Processes that increase added value.
- Products are used and produced to facilitate and improve performance.
- It is a structure or system where processes and products are developed for use in life.
Iskandar Alisyahbana (1980:1) formulated a clearer and more complete definition of technology, namely a way of doing something to meet human needs with the help of tools and reason so as to extend, strengthen and make life easier to live. According to him, technology has been known to humans since millions of years ago because of the drive to live a more comfortable, more prosperous and prosperous life.
2. IAD as a basis for Technology Development.
IAD (basic natural science) concepts are formed from curiosity about something that people do not yet know, this curiosity leads to searching for principles or theories that can be obtained from the results of studies, namely through experiments. This study is a study that does not intend to look for the optimal conditions or processes that are expected, but only to fulfill the explanation of objects (objects and energy) and natural events. IAD concepts are natural science concepts regarding conditions, interactions and events from normal (biology) or ideal (physics) conditions. These concepts are deliberately arranged ideally or normally so that they are generally applicable, which means they can be used anytime and anywhere. The general applicability of these concepts is broad, so they function as basic concepts for applications and technology.
Technology can be formed from IAD, but it can also be formed without IAD. Technology without IAD can be likened to a car with the engine running and moving forward, but without a driver. How dangerous the car is, because it can hit anything in front of it. If there is a driver in the car, the driver will control the car, so that the car is safe and useful for humans, the driver is IAD. So, IAD is in technology and controls technology, so that technology is safe and useful for humans. The principles and theories of IAD as well as the applied control of nature are used in technology to arrange objects, create constructions in nature, and create tools to control the way nature works. Technology includes techniques for arranging objects, as well as making natural constructions and tools, while IAD concerns properties (condition, content and nature of objects), interactions and changes in objects.
3. Changes in aspects of life as a result of technological developments
Technological developments have resulted in significant changes to all aspects of human life. The development of information technology includes the development of technological infrastructure, especially in the field of information technology, such as hardware, software, data storage technology. Technological developments not only affect the business world, but also other fields, such as health, education, government, and others. The years 1650 to 1955 were declared by Alvin Toffler as the industrial era. This era began with the industrial revolution, namely since the discovery of industrial machines. Human labor in factories is starting to be replaced by machines. And as time goes by, technology is currently developing rapidly. for example, anti-bacterial electronic devices have now been found in washing machines, refrigerators and air conditioners, namely using NANO technology. Technological progress is something that we cannot avoid in this life, because technological progress will run in line with scientific progress.
Technological developments are very necessary. Every innovation is created to provide positive benefits for human life. 4. Benefits and Impact of Technological Developments.
On the one hand, the amazing development of the world of technology has indeed brought extraordinary benefits to the progress of human civilization. There is no doubt that technological advances have been recognized and felt to provide much convenience and comfort for human life. However, apart from positive influences and impacts, the rapid progress of technology also has quite a lot of negative influences and impacts. Technological developments in Western Europe resulted in the industrial revolution which oppressed the working class and which gave birth to communism. The production of weapons of mass destruction, whether chemical, biological or nuclear, of course cannot be separated from technology; not to mention mentioning the damage to natural ecosystems as a result of technological progress.
